Confessions of a Former Worrier:

Updated: Apr 26, 2022

Have you ever been in such a tail spin that you can’t get out of your own mind? When faced with stress your thoughts race, your worries take over, and your imagination kicks into gear. So, you make up a ton of scenarios that are just that, “made up,” but your mind is spinning so out of control that you don’t even realize it is all in your head. You may be worried about something in the past or anxious about something that hasn’t even happened in the future. This is when we should take a breath and try to calm and focus on the present moment… But, oh no, we all know there is no stopping this runaway train. This is when you need to just S.T.O.P.

Stop what you are doing, put a pause on your thoughts, your actions, and your internal monologue.

Take a few breaths. Breathe in deep, breathe out, blow out the candles  Bring yourself into the present moment.

Observe what is going on with your body , what sensations are you feeling, hearing, touching, and how are you feeling right now, what is your mind telling you right now?.

Proceed Hopefully you’re now a bit calmer, more clear-headed, and in a better place to move forward with an intentional choice.

Remember: Live in the present moment and keep your "passport" with you at all times! You can visit the past, but come back to the present. You can visit the future but remember to return to the present. Traveling is nice, but always come back home to the present.

Emotions are energy in motion, moving and changing. While we can’t control a situation, we can control how we react to it. This knowledge is empowering in itself, and once you learn to control your reactions, it feels like you have a super power!
